The Orville Jensen collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Jensen and Mark Sheehy in October 2008. Jensen taught at Wilson Campus School from 1962-1977. In this interview, Jensen talks about where he taught before joining the staff at Wilson Campus School, his time at Wilson, and what he did after the school closed.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Wilson Campus School Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical Note:

Orville Jenson was born April 1, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jensen attended Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, then went on to Bemidji State Teachers College to get his Bachelor's degree in Teaching. During this time, Jensen was teaching in a country school. In 1962, Jensen was hired at Wilson Campus School to teach elementary and junior high students. This changed after the 1968 changes at Wilson, and Jensen was teaching all age ranges. When Wilson closed, Jensen went to work in the College of Education department at Mankato State University. While on campus, Jensen, along with another person started the Center for Academic Success. In 1957, Jensen married Joyce Hennestredt and the couple had one son, Joel. Joyce passed away in 1988, and Jensen remarried in 1991. Jensen died on December 1, 2009 in Mankato, Minnesota.
