The Gene Biewen collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Biewen and Mark Sheehy in June 2008. Biewen taught at Wilson Campus School from 1967-1977. In this interview, Biewen talks about coaching at Wilson Campus School, the changes that Don Glines implemented, and what he did after the school closed.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Wilson Campus School Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical Note:

Gene Biewen was born November 26, 1933 in Austin, Minnesota. Biewen graduated from Austin High School in 1951, and attended St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. Biewen taught at St. Adrian High School in Adrian, Minnesota, from 1955-1958, Loardes High School in Rochester from 1958-1965, then Prince George College in British Colombia Canada from 1965-1967. Beiwen was then hired at Wilson Campus School to teach physical education and English, as well as coach boys basketball and be the assistant coach for football and track. During his first two years at Wilson, Biewen was also pursuing his Master of Science at Mankato State College. Biewen worked at Wilson until it closed in 1977, then went to work for a year at Mankato East High School before teaching at Mankato West High School.
