The Marilyn H. Wells collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Wells and Monika Antonelli in July 2007. In this interview, Wells talks about her family, her experiences as a student at Mankato State College, and her experiences teaching elementary school.

This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Biographical Note:

Marilyn H. Wells was born on May 31, 1926 in Winnebago, Minnesota. She graduated from high school in Mapleton, Minnesota in 1944. She attended Mankato State Teachers College and graduated with a two-year degree in 1945, a bachelor’s degree in 1965, a master in education in 1969, and later a specialist degree in 1980 in Special Education and Library Science. During her time as a student she was involved with the university’s Glee Club, the League of Women Voters, and the YWCA. Wells taught second and third grades for 25 years at Mankato’s Hoover Elementary School and North Mankato’s Monroe Elementary School. She married Wayne A. Wells in 1947. They have three children; all graduated from Wilson Campus School and Minnesota State University.
