The Bette Henrichs collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Henrichs and Daardi Sizemore in 2003. In this short interview, Henrichs talks about her schooling experience and her life working as a nurse at the Wilson Plant in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She also talks about joining the Cadet Nursing Program near the end of World War II.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the South Central Minnesota Veterans History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Bette Henrichs was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota in 1925. Raised as an only child, Henrichs always wanted to be a nurse. Following high school, joined the nursing program at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1943-1946. Eventually she followed her friends and joined the Cadet Program for about a year. She then went for additional schooling at the University of Minnesota. After graduation, she went back to Albert Lea, got married and still lives there today. She worked at the Wilson Plant for 28 years as an Occupational Health Nurse.
