Abstract:

The Deanna Enright collection consists of an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Enright and Wayne A. Lamon during November 1985. In the interview, Enright, an elementary school teacher since the early 1970s who primarily taught in Rapidan, Minnesota and for a couple years during the early 1980s at a Department of Defense Dependent School in Germany, discussed the negative and positive aspects involved with teaching along with her expectations of administrators, fellow teachers, parents, and students. Additionally, Enright talked about the evolution of teacher contracts, curriculum changes concerning technology, the roles of politicians and professors in defining the curricula of elementary schools, and the stresses associated with her professional avocation.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for a course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
