Abstract:

The Jack L. Flinner collection contains an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Flinner and Lance Lund during the fall of 1987. Flinner began his career as a physics professor at Wittenberg University (1957-1969). In 1969, he moved to Mankato, Minnesota and become a professor of physics at Mankato State College. According to Lund, Flinner noted "that the goals, objectives, duties, rewards, and frustrations have changed little during . . ." his career. However, Flinner believed that changes in the abilities of students and advances in technology altered the teaching methods available to professors. Furthermore, he touched upon Mankato State's administration, organizations, professors and staff, along with the community of Mankato.

This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota
