The Madge L. Olson collection contains an audiocassette, transcript, and an interpretive essay by Melody Kukk concerning her interview with Olson during October and December 1990. In the interview, Olson discussed her career as an elementary school teacher at rural and city schools and in public and private institutions between 1919 and 1988. Olson focused on the changes that have occurred during her years of experience. She discussed the breakdown of discipline, school desegregation and bussing, the need for more religion in education, and her success as an educator.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
