The John Robert Holgate collection contains an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Holgate and Robert A. Parsons during the fall of 1988. Holgate began his teaching career in Aransas Pass, Texas, 1962-1963. He left Texas in 1963 and began teaching in Lake Crystal, Minnesota when the interview occurred he was still teaching and working as a counselor at Lake Crystal. In the interview, Holgate discussed the areas of change and continuity that have occurred during his career as a teacher and counselor.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
