The David M. Allen collection contains an audiocassette and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Allen and Julie Higgs during the fall of 1989. Allen began working as a middle school teacher in Platteville, Wisconsin in 1974. At the time of the interview, he had become a school administrator. In the interview, Allen discussed his spirituality, his ideas concerning what makes a good principal, the school's and the teachers' roles in the community, and how schools had developed into social institutions.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
