This collection consists of items pertaining to Armin O. Sundet of Faribault, Minnesota. Sundet was a successful Faribault businessman and a member of the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives. The collection consists of speeches, correspondence, commission reports, and newspaper clippings. All of these items are from Sundet's time in the Minnesota state government. Also included in the collection is an oral history interview conducted with Sundet in 1977. In this interview, Sundet discussed conservation issues, Minnesota politics and personalities, Minnesota state parks and recreation areas, issues pertaining to Faribault, among other topics.

Biographical Note:

Armin O. Sundet was born in Fillmore County on March 15, 1904. He attended school in Chatfield, Minnesota near where his family's farm was. During the 1930s he ran a feed mill and sold insurance. Sundet established a farm of his own near Nerstrand, Minnesota, where he farmed for twelve years (1938 - 1950). In 1950, he moved to Faribault, where he owned Sundet Mobile Home Sales. Sundet was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1952, 1954, 1956, and to the state Senate in 1958, 1962, and 1966. He was defeated in his 1970 reelection bid. Armin Sundet died in May of 1980.

Scope and Content:

This collection is made up of items related to Armin O. Sundet of Faribault, Minnesota. Included in the collection are his speeches, correspondence, state Senate roll calls, a report from the Highway Interim Commission, and proposed resolutions from state and county Republican conventions.

Also included in the collection is an oral history interview conduced with Sundet in 1977. The cassette tape and transcript of the interview are both available. The cassette tape is housed separate from the rest of the collection. In this interview, he discusses many issues that were important during his time in state government, the people he worked with over the years, and his family background. The cassette tape of the interview and the typed transcript are both part of this collection.
