Palm H. W. Photo Album, 1925-1939. SMHC Manuscript Collection 128. 1/2 Hollinger box, .22 Cubic Feet.

Abstract:

The Palm collection contains a photo album and one folder of loose items. The photo album contains photographs, newspaper clippings, and postcards provide a glimpse into Palm's travels and business dealings in Ortonville, Minnesota, Kilbourn, Wisconsin, and Albuquerque, New Mexico. The album provides a pictorial representation of Palm's travels in Mexico, Cuba, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas, Florida, Minnesota and California. The items in this folder may have been in the scrapbook at one time.

Biographical Note:

Palm was a jeweler in Ortonville, Minnesota. In 1927, he operated a trading post and sold Indian artwork in Kilbourn, now called Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. Later, he opened a trading post in Albuquerque, New Mexico under the name White Eagle. His interest in selling the products of American Indians lead him to dealings with the Seminole in Florida, the Lakota in South Dakota, and the various native nations in the southwestern United States. After opening his business in Albuquerque, Palm continued to live in that city.
