This collection consists of an oral history interview conducted with Fred Wetherill of St. Peter, Minnesota. In the interview, Wetherill discusses his family background and education, his time as Agricultural Extension Director, agriculture in Nicollet County, and what political, economic, and technological changes have occurred since the 1920s, and how they have changed farming.
Fred Wetherill was born in Holden, Missouri on December 15, 1903. He married Dorris Espenett of New Brighton, Minnesota, in 1924. They had two children. Wetherill came to Minnesota in the 1920s. In the 1930s he worked for the Federal Land Bank and at the University of Minnesota in the Farm Management and Economics Department. He became Nicollet County Agent in the early 1940s, and stayed in that position for thirty years, until his retirement. Fred Wetherill died in September 1988.
