Scope and Content:

This collection is made up of items pertaining to John Olsen-Svedjan. No biographical information is available on this man or his family. All the information we have is found on the marriage certificate that is part of this collection. The certificate is dated 1916, and is for the marriage of John Olson and Mary Rodvold.

The bulk of the collection is made up of letters written to and from the Olson-Svedjan family. These letters are written in Norwegian, and have been roughly translated. These translations are included in the files with the letters. Postcards written to Mary (Rodvold) Olson-Svedjan are also included in the collection. These postcards date from about 1908 - 1922, with several that were undated. The picture portion of these postcards feature street scenes and scenic places throughout the Midwest, advertisements, cartoons, and various holiday greetings. Some of the postcards are written in Norwegian, and others are written in English.

Three wedding invitations are also included in the collection. They are dated 1913 and 1916, and are to weddings in Osakis and Little Sauk.
