This collection consists of costumes, apparel and memorabilia associated with Minnesota State University, Mankato and its predecessor institutions. Included in this collection are: athletic apparel, banners, blankets, sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, alumni "swag," commencement apparel items and homecoming costumes.
This collection consists of costumes, apparel and memorabilia associated with Minnesota State University, Mankato and its predecessor institutions. This collection has been assembled from numerous and ongoing donations from campus departments and offices. The University Archives also actively gathers material for this collection.
The school colors have been Purple and Gold since 1892. From 1935-1973, the University Mascot was the "Indians." Some of the athletic apparel and homecoming costumes reflect this mascot. The Maverick has been the mascot since 1977.
The American Flag in this collection may be the Service Flag dedicated in 1943 to the students who served in World War II. This claim is based off the program for the dedication, which is in the University General Records Collection, and the number of stars on the flag. There is no other proof that this flag is the same flag that was dedicated in 1943.
