University Archives

The University Archives is the official repository of the records of Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Archives contains records from the creation of the Mankato State Normal School in 1868 to the present.


A guide to the collections can be found in the list of University Archives Finding Aids. They provide short summaries of the scope, history and significance of the collections as well as detailed inventories of their contents. Please note that these collections are governed by strict copyright rules.


Southern Minnesota Historical Center

The Southern Minnesota Historical Center is a regional research repository containing manuscript collections from twelve counties in South Central Minnesota. The Center contains organizational and business records as well as personal papers dating to the 1860s. Other Regional Centers are located throughout the state.

MHS Scrapbook Collection Index

This MHS Scrapbook Collection Index covers the MHS Scrapbooks volumes 1-74, 76-83, and 96; volumes 75 and 84-95 are missing. Topics, locations, and individuals from the scrapbooks are indexed. Each listing includes the volume and page number as well as the reel of microfilm where it can be located. There are also indicators if the clipping includes a photograph or an illustration.
